For the Kallahs.
By the community.

Chicago’s unified fund to care for our Kallahs with dignity.

Lev Chana L’Kallah was founded on one firm belief; our Kallahs should prepare for married life with joy, free from worry and stress.

Lev Chana L’Kallah Fund
It’s a simple concept with a profound impact.
Our community is stepping up to meet the need.
THE MISSION: a Kallah’s shopping experience will have that pampered Kallah feel, and her home will reflect her personal taste.

Every Kallah who needs assistance in setting up her home receives it, with her privacy and dignity intact. Lev Chana L’Kallah will provide a Kallah Package including beds, a dinette set, a couch, and vouchers for linen, clothing, and other personally chosen items.
Lev Chana L'Kallah's Namesake
Harriette Zaruches Rubinstein
חנה בת יצחק

A daughter of Eastern European immigrants, living in Chicago, Harriette grew up at a time when it was uncommon to receive a traditional Jewish education.

Nevertheless, when she married a Holocaust survivor, Shlomo Gershon Rubinstein, she immediately showed that she had the innate qualities of a true eishes chayil and began to build a traditional Jewish home.

Her home was always one which stood out for its love of family, Jewish tradition, and a sense of warmth from the “old country.”

As a collective group of family members embraced an increasingly Jewish life of authentic Torah observance, Harriette reaped tremendous Yiddishe nachas. With a “Baruch Hashem” always on her lips, she connected to Yiddishkeit in every way she could, giving continuous genuine encouragement to everyone. Her signature “trademark” became her unwavering, absolute unconditional love of everyone. In a sense, she became everyone’s Bubbie.

And one of her greatest joys was a Chasunah.

It did not matter whose wedding; every simcha was her personal simcha and she relished every announcement of an engagement with pure joy. She delighted in attending every Chasunah as if the Kallah was her own granddaughter.

This love that Harriette had for every Kallah is her legacy. She started her married life with almost nothing. This organization is a fitting memorial to Harriette’s legacy and enables Kallahs in our community to have additional means to build a bayis ne’eman b’yisroel.

She was always so thankful to Hashem for the beautiful Jewish family she was blessed with and she would be very happy to know her legacy is devoted towards helping these Kallahs start their own Jewish families with the proper amount of simcha.

May the efforts and contributions on behalf of this organization be an aliyah for the neshama of Chana bas Yitzchak.

Rav Chaim Kreiswirth zt"l once went to the Steipler zt"l, needing a big yeshuah. The Steipler zt"l told him to get involved in Hachnosas Kallah, and he saw extraordinary yeshuos. I am personally aware and involved in the great work of Lev Chana L'Kallah; they assist Kallahs in a most unique way. May everyone who joins Lev Chana L'Kallah be zocheh to yeshuos and much bracha.

I am familiar with the tremendous work done by Lev Chana L'Kallah on behalf of our kallahs in the city of Chicago. Whoever participates in this mitzvah of hachnosas kallah will be zocheh to peiros ba'olam hazeh vehakeren kayemes l'olam haboh.

Lev Chana L'Kallah is an amazing resource for ordinary families who struggle to obtain the funds to marry off their children. I have been personally involved in a few cases where Lev Chana L'Kallah came through for families and lifted a heavy burden from upon their shoulders so they were able to fully enjoy their simcha.
